10 Most Underrated Superstars Of WWE's Ruthless Aggression Era
3. Molly Holly
When people talk about the greatest women wrestlers of the Ruthless Aggression era, there are pretty much only two names bandied about: Trish Stratus and Lita. But Molly Holly deserves to be in that conversation, too.
Molly quickly rose up the ranks of the women's division to become one of the most talented female wrestlers in the business, but she was frequently forced to slum it in "matches" with models-turned-wrestlers.
It was painfully obvious to everyone in the arena - except for Vince McMahon - that Molly Holly was too good for the angles she was getting, and it became increasingly difficult for the announcers to disguise their contempt for the watered-down nature of the division.
Here's an excerpt of Jim Ross trying to note the differences between Molly and Terri Runnels' wrestling styles, as delicately as possible:
"Terri is really out-womaned in this match. Molly Holly a very accomplished grappler...and Terri is, uh, well Terri's got a lotta spunk, she's got a lotta fight."
Molly deserved better, but the creative team decided to trash her character rather than place the emphasis on her incredible in-ring skills and solid mic work. She was turned into a villain because she didn't flaunt her T&A at all times and was eventually made into the literal butt of the joke, with everyone commenting about how much "junk she had in the trunk."
Because WWE is classy like that.
