9. The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler - Intercontinental Championship (SummerSlam)
After taking several months off to film "The Marine 4," The Miz returned to WWE TV on the June 30 edition of Raw with a new Hollywood persona. He quickly captured the vacant Intercontinental Championship in a Battle Royal at Battleground, lastly eliminating Dolph Ziggler. The two squared off in an awesome (no pun intended) non-title match the next night on Raw that saw Ziggler score the victory. In doing so, he earned himself a future shot at the gold at the SummerSlam pay-per-view. Ziggler and Miz have clashed a handful of times over the last two years, but they had never feuded prior to this point. They have a track record for having great matches and thus their SummerSlam encounter was sure to be no different. Miz was doing the best work of his career around this time. It was also the first meaningful program Ziggler had been involved in since dropping the world title. They were given the opening slot at SummerSlam and they kicked off the show on a high note. As expected, the two contested an excellent match with plenty of back-and-forth action. Ziggler pulled out the surprising victory to claim his second Intercontinental Championship. On a night that also saw Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins steal the show and Brock Lesnar decimate John Cena, this match was a hidden gem on the card.
