WWE can be pretty lame when it comes to creating soap opera drama (see the aforementioned Al Wilson wedding), but when they get it right, man, do they get it right.

For weeks in the summer of 2000, Kurt Angle and Stephanie McMahon were getting...let's just say...close. The only problem? Stephanie was married to Triple H. Steph and Kurt maintained that they were 'just friends', and Stephanie tried to bring her husband and her friend together by putting them together in tag team matches.

On the final episode of Smackdown before SummerSlam 2000, where Trips and Kurt were going to face off against The Rock in a Triple Threat Match for the WWF Championship, Hunter and Stephanie teamed up against Rock and Lita in a mixed tag team match. Stephanie got knocked out during the match, and Kurt Angle came out and brought her to the back.

After reviving Stephanie, Kurt said how much he cared about her wellbeing, and then laid a long liplock on her. After initially resisting, Steph gave in and started petting Kurt. The kiss finished, and the two stared at each other as Smackdown went off the air. It was a great hook and tease for the upcoming pay-per-view.

Good drama, indeed.
