10 Most Unique Submissions In UFC History
5. Inverted Triangle Kimura
Who: Luke Rockhold vs. Tim Boetsch
When: UFC 172
Much like the Inverted Triangle Choke Americana (rolls off the tongue, I know) mentioned before, the Inverted Triangle Kimura is a stunning mix of two submissions being cranked at once.
Double the pain for the recipient.
The Inverted Triangle is as sneaky as it is tricky to pull off, with the opponent rarely expecting to be locked into a Triangle Choke, especially considering the top-to-tail position they're usually in that proceeds it.
This in itself isn't all that common inside the Octagon.
As Rockhold demonstrates though, once you do have it in the arm is completely opened up.
While most would just hold it out to the mat to control positioning, the former middleweight champion decided he wanted to really make Boetsch's night a painful one, locking in a Kimura at the same time.
Poor Boetsch was so focused on not being choked out, that he immediately had to start worrying about his arm being broken at the same time.
It's a stunning piece of multi-tasking to execute the move, one that shows off outstanding grappling IQ and a hunger to end the fight in the most brutal way possible.
