If the Hardcore Title was little more than a time-waster of a belt, the WCW Cruiserweight Title surely was not. Once one of the matches that fans most looked forward to on the promotion's Pay-Per-Views, the Cruiserweight gold was held by the likes of Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho, Dean Malenko and Eddie Guerrero, all men who represented the strap extremely well, putting on fantastic match after sterling bout. Medusa would capture the title at Starrcade 1999, defeating Evan Karagias for the distinction of being the first ever female Cruiserweight Champion. It felt a little unique, but unique isn't always bad. What was bad was when WCW decided to put the belt on a man pretending to be Jim Ross, complete with Bells Palsy. Ed Ferrara should be - and probably now is - ashamed of himself for the 'Oklahoma' character in late-1999 into early-2000. Directly poking fun at the very real affliction haunting Ross, the persona was designed for no other reason than to be cruel. Worse yet. at Souled Out 2000, Oklahoma would win the Cruiserweight Title, putting the final nail in the coffin for the belt's legacy.
