10 Most Unlikely First WWE World Championship Defenses
4. Brock Lesnar Vs. Paul London (WWE Championship) - 09/10/03
There are many strange rules and behaviours in the weird world of professional wrestling, and in October 2003 Paul London committed one of the most heinous acts a wrestler can do: he turned up for work. And introduced himself! The cad.
London rocked up for work at the 9/10/03 edition of SmackDown! for his TV debut, making sure to make himself known to then-WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. Vince - seeing this as a clear act of disrespect - refused the handshake and instead lined London up to go up against Brock Lesnar. It's worth noting that Lesnar was a little unhinged at the time, aligning himself with the boss and finding a new hobby in trying to murder his colleagues, most notably Zach Gowan and Brian Kendrick. Lesnar had also just picked up his third WWE Championship, defeating Kurt Angle a month prior, in the actual greatest Iron Man match of all time.
London gets soundly murderised in the match, with Lesnar squashing him in less than 90 seconds with a series of powerslams, a powerbomb, and an F5 to see the future Tag Team Champion off.
