5. Mankind

Just looking at the image of Mick Foley with the then-WWF Title, the same one held by the likes of Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior and The Rock, sums up exactly what was happening during the Attitude Era. There was a time, just a few short years before this, when someone who looked like Foley would have never been given a run with the big belt. Whether or not that's criminal is really up to the viewpoints of individual fans, but the fact is that Mankind made the transition from outcast weirdo heel to beloved fan favourite admirably, and it's all down to the passion, desire and creativity of Mick Foley. The infamous line from WCW announcer Tony Schiavone, giving away the result of Mankind's victory from Raw on an episode of Monday Nitro, caused fans in their thousands to switch channels to Monday Night Raw, proving that Mick Foley, unlikely champion or not, could definitely put "butts in seats".
