If fans in 2003 grew tired of seeing Triple H on top of the Monday Night Raw food chain, they could at least draw some comfort from the Stone Cold versus Eric Bischoff sub-plot slowly brewing underneath the surface.
The pair were together responsible for some of the most entertaining segments of the year - including their only slightly-offensive Redneck Triathlon at Bad Blood - and after Austin agreed to put his general manager duties on the line for a chance to raise hell, the stakes seemed genuinely high.
