Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, as Trish Stratus found out all-too-well in spring 2006 when she incurred the wrath of number one fan, Mickie James. For months, fans had gotten a look at the unstable nature of the former Indy star, who professed her fandom of Trish on numerous occasions. More than once, however, her admiration for the former fitness model bordered on uncomfortable. There were major lesbian overtones to the interactions between the newcomer and her idol. So strong were Mickie's advances that Trish had no choice but to ask for personal space, something that ignited a fire in Mickie and led to a vicious and vile assault. Tough love, one could dub it, leading to a hotly anticipated match between the two Divas at WrestleMania 22. Mickie, determined to not only defeat the woman she once held in great regard but also obsessed with the destruction of the then-six-time women's champion, resorted to every mind game possible as the fans in Chicago reacted favorably to her crazy nature and unhinged behavior. With her title hopes fading, she reached deep into her bag of tricks and pulled out a handful of Trish's nether regions, much to the shock and awe of the champion, the fans and the commentators. The psychotic look on the challenger's face as she licked her fingers, then proceeded to finish Trish with a Chick Kick moments later to not only become the new WWE Women's champion but also ignite a new era in the Divas division, told the entire story of the Mickie James character and served as the perfect conclusion to one of the better women's title matches of the decade.
