10 Most Unsuccessful WWE Returns Of All-Time

5. Chris Masters

Similar to Test, Chris Masters had a hell of a physique going for him when he arrived on the WWE scene in 2005, which was what led to him getting pushed quite quickly upon his debut.

His in-ring and especially his mic skills left a lot to be desired, but he found his stride over time in working with Shawn Michaels and John Cena during his rookie year.

Despite being prominently featured throughout most of 2005 of 2006, he never once tasted gold during his first stint with WWE. He did nothing of note on the SmackDown brand in 2007 prior to his release that mostly had to do with his run-ins with the Wellness Policy.

Once he cleaned up his act, he was re-signed in 2009. Fans were hopeful he would be reintroduced in a meaningful manner, such as being revealed as Chris Jericho's mystery partner, but he instead resurfaced on Raw in a throwaway match with MVP.

That was a common theme throughout his second stint: WWE Creative had zero clue what to do with him. Ever.

His second run lasted almost as long as his first. He resided on 'WWE Superstars' for over a year before finally getting served his walking papers in August 2011.

He tried his hardest to improve, and he did, but officials either failed to see that or just didn't care.
