8. Shane McMahon Returns To WWE

Shane McMahon was thought forever estranged from his family and could have simply lived the brat rich kid life for the end of his days.

For a time, he did, by investing in various companies that you've never heard of and paying a fortune to MMA legends to train under them - which, if you think about it, makes him equally as tough!

He wasn't coming back because he didn't need to and the familial conflict element made things so much more awkward than if, say, he had spent the last five years of his career taking shots at his dad. Shane has said, variously, that he wanted to spend more time with his children and that he wished to branch out. He mentioned in an interview with Mick Foley that his relationship with Vince "stopped being a collaboration and it stopped being fun", which is the most he's talked around what most consider, from the outside, to be the truth of the matter: Shane was passed over as heir apparent in favour of his sister and her husband. This, to be clear, is something Shane has never admitted. They are however easy dots to connect.

But return he did, because - yes! - Vince McMahon was so dismal at creating new stars that he had to give his spoiled kid a series of birthday presents.
