9. JBL vs. Chris Benoit (US Title - WrestleMania 22)
In general, wrestling fans loved it when the hard-working wrestling machine Chris Benoit held a championship - whenever the Canadian had something to fight for, he was even more vicious inside the ring, and it regularly made for special matches. Basically, if Benoit was involved in a title match or title defence on any given show, fans were guaranteed a good match they could sink their teeth into. John Bradshaw Layfield may be little more than a heel-favouring announcer nowadays, but there was a period when he was one of the most unlikeable dudes in WWE. Almost like a physical manifestation of what wrestling fans hated, JBL was a curious mix between Ted DiBiase's successful 'Million Dollar Man' character and the Mr. McMahon persona. At 'Mania 22, JBL vs. Benoit for the US Title should have been a hidden gem, but it was more a case of the match feeling rushed through. Benoit had only won the title from Booker T at No Way Out in February, following a tremendous 'Best Of 5' Series, so switching the belt felt a little pointless here.
