5. John Cena vs. Rusev (US Title - WrestleMania 31)
The most recent entry on this list, it seems like everyone knew John Cena would defeat Rusev for the United States Championship eventually. The longer the feud ran on, the more likely it was that the time would come where the All-American good guy would vanquish the foreign menace, that's just how wrestling works, there was no way Rusev was beating Cena cleanly two Pay-Per-Views in a row. Cheerfully, the match itself was fine at WrestleMania 31, but at this point in his career Cena doesn't really need the US Title. Sure, there's an argument to be made that his status dictates that the belt will mean more the longer he holds it, but let's be honest, there's a great chance that title is getting switched within a month or two onto someone else. It'd be nice to think Cena would pitch stories that could increase the aura surrounding the title, but this oddly feels like a step back for the strap, which was doing just fine around the waist of the big Bulgarian. It was smart to protect Rusev somewhat, having Lana serve to pretty much indirectly cause him to lose, but does John Cena really need a title at this point?
