This is one of those matches that turned into more of a physical battle than anyone was expecting, but that extra physicality helped make it special. After Bret began to bleed, Piper went after the wound, causing even more blood to spill. It was a Face VS Face match, but Piper was bordering on the heel line at multiple points, especially when he thought about hitting Bret with the ring bell after a ref bump, only for the fans to talk him out of it. Piper's extra out-of-nowhere aggression is what lands this match on the list. You go in expecting a friendly, technical bout, and you end up with a bit of a brawl that ended up with Bret being a bloody mess. Something different, which made it good.
