10 Most Wasted Talents In WWE History
2. 'Dr. Death' Steve Williams
Dr. Death was a legendary proponent of All Japan Pro Wrestling's King's Road style, racking up three WON five star matches on the way to puroresu immortality.
He was a man who even looked authentic. With his rock-shaped head and accomplished real sports background, Williams enhanced his legitimacy with his incredibly stiff offence, which was an enthralling blend of suplexes and characterful, football-inspired charges. Williams could even dive through the ropes to deliver a devastating-looking tope and execute graceful handspring elbow strikes.
The infamous WWF Brawl For All tournament, held in 1998, was arranged purely to build real-life tough guy Williams up to mount a title challenge against his 'Rattlesnake' namesake. Unlike some of the other men on this list, Vince, who had courted Williams for years, had big plans for him. He just botched the execution spectacularly.
Bart Gunn shattered Williams' main event prospects, hard man reputation and hamstring in an unplanned humbling.
Williams has since gone on record as saying that the WWF gig, in which an unwelcome Jim Ross was imposed as his mouthpiece, was never a good fit.
