8. RVD vs. Jerry Lynn (Guilty As Charged 2001)
The last ever original ECW Pay-Per-View (let's not even count the horrendous WWE-produced December To Dismember from the latter part of 2006), Guilty As Charged 2001 was headlined by Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn. The pair had routinely stole the show on previous PPV events such as Hardcore Heaven 1999 and Living Dangerously, and those bouts were arguably better than this one, but they weren't in the main event slot. Even though The Sandman's ECW World Heavyweight Title defence against Steve Corino and Justin Credible was a featured bout, and Sandman would subsequently lose the belt to Rhino in a short encounter, it was RVD vs. Lynn that was chosen to close out the show, with the feeling being that nobody could top their chemistry. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uSClrPR2Tn0 That hunch would prove to be correct, there are few series of matches in wrestling with the sheer electricity of Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn. So enamoured are wrestling bookers by the thought of promoting the bout, that even TNA elected to schedule the match for their Bound For Glory 2011 show.
