6. New Cruiserweight Champion! Oh Wait...Nevermind

Did anyone else think that "The" Brian Kendrick won the Cruiserweight Championship on Raw?

When TBK made TJP tap out to the Captain's Hook [do we like that name or no?], there was a reaction both live and at home that suggested a title change. Confusion set in when it became clearer that the championship was not at stake and that the original plan - announced last week on Raw to have been a title match - had been changed to make Kendrick earn another title shot. Perhaps the announcers made mention of it, but if Corey Graves doesn't say it, it often doesn't register as important.

Either way, not everyone knew of the apparent mid-last-week creative audible.

The move made sense given that Perkins had defeated Kendrick clean at Clash of Champions two Sundays ago; it is always better to have characters clearly earn title opportunities (here's looking at John Cena) if for no other reason than consistency's sake. Plus, it was a good match and a stark improvement over the COC bout that was plagued by mistimed sequences.

Void of the botches, the Raw rematch on Monday displayed TBK's cunning creativity and TJP's ability to sell a believable beating. Submitting the champ will make the presumed PPV rematch more interesting.
