10 New Directions After WWE Draft 2016

9. Cruiserweight Division

Another more certain aspect of the post-Draft fallout, is that we’ll be treated to the return of a Cruiserweight division exclusively on Monday Night Raw.

And while we already knew of this ahead of the Draft, what we didn’t know was exactly who Raw would recruit in order to fill that division.

As it transpires, though, they didn’t actually pick too many Cruiserweights, per se. Of the 30-plus names that were drafted to Raw, there are currently only two who are both singles competitors and would qualify for the 205lb weight cut; Neville and Finn Balor.

Guys like Sami Zayn are on the border of being eligible, while others such as Xavier Woods and Enzo Amore are within the weight class but already busy in tag team action.

For me, this suggests that we could end up seeing many of the CWC competitors called up to fill out the Cruiserweight division—which in turn means that such a division may not yet be ready for a while.

Either way, it’s very much a new direction, though, and what will presumably be a rather welcome one.
