10 New Directions For WWE After Backlash 2023

1. Cody Rhodes As World Champ

Seth Rollins WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Seth Rollins absolutely should be in the hunt for that World Heavyweight Title, but this fan would put the belt on Cody Rhodes and "finish the story". Or, at least finish his quest for a top prize in WWE. His win over Brock Lesnar at Backlash came across as an exercise in preparation.

It was opportunistic, sure, but still a statement win. Also, the fact their bout headlined the pay-per-view over a longer and definitely-more-satisfying Bad Bunny vs. Damian Priest brawl was a real show of faith in Cody from management. That'll be a nice headliner's payday too.

He deserves it.

More heartache might be tempting, but WWE can soothe some wounds still open after WrestleMania by having Cody clutch a World Title and stare up at the heavens. "I did it, dad", he'd say. Then, "...but I'm not finished yet".

Cue leading Raw, and cue going after Roman again when the time is right.
