Would booking Cody Rhodes to win his second Royal Rumble in quick succession be overkill and too forced? Possibly, but folks wouldn't be mad at it if Cody was then able to "finish the story" vs. Roman Reigns in Philadelphia. The fanbase has been clamouring for that since April 2023, after all.

There are other ways to get Rhodes into a scenario opposite Reigns without the Rumble anyway. He just beat Damian Priest, and has scored wins over big names like Brock Lesnar since cutting a gutted figure at last year's 'Mania. Cody's on a roll, and he'd become undeniable if he kept racking up successes.

Someone else can bag the Rumble and match up vs. Seth Rollins.

All that anger following WrestleMania 39 would wash away in an instant if Rhodes obliterated Roman's dominance once and for all come the spring. It feels like that's the only conceivable way to maintain his babyface power heading into 2024.
