The tag team match between Charlotte/Dana Brooke and Natalya/Becky Lynch was a perfectly serviceable contest (owing mostly to Becky’s spirited performance) that saw Charlotte and Dana triumph through superior communication and coordination, but the result isn’t the main talking point.

Natalya has been on the receiving end of the champion’s skullduggery for months now, and Becky’s inability to save her was the tipping point. Deeply frustrated, she left her partner laid-out on the canvas with a brutal post-match assault that might just save her status in the division.

Natalya was lost. Not as popular as Becky or Sasha Banks, and never really looking like a credible threat to Charlotte’s reign, she’s felt more like a spot-filler than a significant player in recent months. With this, Natalya has a completely new direction and purpose in the Women’s division.

WWE made a smart move by abandoning her milquetoast face persona, and can now focus on rebuilding Nattie as a frustrated heel against the plucky Lynch.
