10 New Directions For WWE After Payback 2023
3. Jey Uso Striking Out On His Own
Jey Uso won't be working any big matches on SmackDown for a while, it seems.
Obviously, that hinges on WWE's dedication to a brand extension they sometimes forget about. Those who pay close attention to the Draft and care about the results are not rewarded after the fact, so it's kinda laughable they had Cody Rhodes make a big deal over Jey coming to Raw.
This is a chance to press the reset button on brand separation, and make Uso's departure from The Bloodline (and blue show's roster as a whole) mean something. For example, seeing Jey match up vs. Cody or even World Heavyweight Champ Seth Rollins would feel fresh.
Over on Fridays, a bitchy Roman Reigns would quiz Paul Heyman over Jey's progress and wonder aloud if there's any way they could pay off Raw stars to take Uso out. That'd keep this in-fighting family story ticking without any need for direct confrontation between Roman and Jey.
