Yes, AJ Styles is currently the WWE World Champion. That doesn't mean that he and another one of the best heels in the company can't bring some prestige to the tag team division, though.

When Smackdown's tag team division was founded in 2002, the inaugural champions were Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle. Though both men were known as singles stars and rivals, the fact that such an incredible superteam came together in order to win the belts gave the titles instant credibility. Even though their reign didn't last long, they were a great starting point.

Rhyno and Heath Slater, by comparison, don't seem so impressive. If Samoa Joe were to come up to Smackdown (and he really ought to soon, as the show is lacking believable heels), he and Styles could easily form a superteam that dominates the competition and wins the belts.

Styles and Joe could easily form the cornerstone for a new Smackdown Six, along with the following two teams...
