6. Reconfigure The Tag Division

Many fans expected The Hardy Boyz vs. Sheamus & Cesaro to steal the show at Extreme Rules, but the match, while not without its highlights, was a minor disappointment. Plagued by the Steel Cage stipulation’s typical restrictive escape tropes (seriously, why not just walk out the door?), it nonetheless produced the right conclusion, with Sheamus & Cesaro leaving with the gold.

The outcome should result in some reconfiguration for the division, and it’s definitely needed. These two teams have been feuding for several months, and from singles matches to multi-team tag bouts, they’ve wrestled each other in every possible way several times over. Their options have been exhausted, and it’s time to inject some fresh blood into the title picture.

It looks like Enzo Amore & Big Cass will be preoccupied with their ongoing “whodunit?”, but The Revival are set to return to action in the next few weeks. The former NXT Tag Champions were clearly being primed for a big push prior to Dash Wilder’s injury, and adding them to the ongoing Sheamus/Cesaro vs. Hardys rivalry will give each party some exciting new match-ups, save the division from repetition, and prevent staleness from creeping in.
