Shout out to Hunico for taking the wounded Sin Cara gimmick and turning it into a sustainable WWE career until 2019. It's amazing that the Cara character survived that long considered how hard to original tanked. In 2011, the wrestling world buzzed with excitement when Mistico put pen to paper on a contract.

That excitable chatter would soon change to awkward glances.

Mistico bombed as Cara. He was supposed to become WWE's go to masked star and replace Rey Mysterio. He was meant to dazzle everybody with incredible aerials and five-star matches. He was going to be a headliner who'd shift more merch than WWE could keep in stock. None of those things happened, and it didn't take long for Cara to derail.

Vince McMahon tried teaming him with Mysterio and letting Cara rub shoulders with top stars like John Cena, but nothing seemed to work. His matches weren't anything special, and there was a disconnect with fans who couldn't relate to the faceless and voiceless mystery masked man.

Hunico needs a statue outside WWE HQ for salvaging something out of this mess.
