9. Tully Blanchard
The son of former wrestler and promoter Joe Blanchard, Tully was raised in the wrestling business hed sell programs and drinks and snacks at American Wrestling Association events from the age of ten, and later worked as a referee: both roles that wrestling fathers would traditionally press upon sons that aimed to follow them into the family business. Joe would insist that Tully complete college before becoming a wrestler, however. Tully went to West Texas State University and played football with Ted DiBiase and Tito Santana before graduating and immediately training to become a wrestler. Working for his fathers Southwest Championship Wrestling in San Antonio, Tully would become a firm fan favourite as well as occupying backstage production roles. Hed feud with Dory and Terry Funk, teaming with his father Joe, until the NWA beckoned and Tully Blanchard became a singles star, facing luminaries like the late American Dream Dusty Rhodes (who was also trained by Joltin Joe Blanchard) for the big belt. Hed later become renowned for his membership in the definitive line-up of the Four Horsemen with Ric Flair, Ole Anderson and Arn Anderson, a role that would earn him a WWE Hall Of Fame ring in 2012, nine days after his father Joes death from cancer.
