10 Next Generation Wrestlers You Didn't Know About

6. Justin Gabriel/P.J. Black

An eighteen year veteran at the tender age of 34, Paul Lloyd Jnr. has pretty much done it all in professional wrestling. Growing up with two wrestling rings in his back yard, the South African high flyer was trained by his father Paul Lloyd Snr., a promoter who wrestled under the name The Pink Panther. Lloyd Jnr. debuted at the age of sixteen under the name P.J. Black, tagging with Ray €˜Adam Rose€™ Leppan, Shortly afterwards, Black lost his father, and travelled to England to complete his training and gain experience, before returning to South Africa in 2005 and competing in World Wrestling Professionals. Signing a developmental contract with WWE in 2008, Black worked in Florida Championship Wrestling as Justin Angel and later Justin Gabriel for three years, winning the FCW heavyweight title and defending it for six months. His final feud before being called up coincided with his appearances on the main roster under the NXT gameshow gimmick, and would be with old tag partner Ray Leppan, then wrestling as Leo Kruger, over who the better wrestler was. NXT and WWE didn€™t do much for the daredevil high flyer as a singles performer, and he requested his release a day before the Royal Rumble in January 2015 to work the independents again. He€™s since had more opportunities in a few months working for Jeff Jarrett€™s Global Championship Wrestling under his old name of P.J. Black, and remains one of WWE€™s missed opportunities.
