10 Next Steps AEW MUST Take After Double Or Nothing
3. Establish Some Top Heels
Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, Hangman Page, Cody Rhodes, The Young Bucks, and Jon Moxley. For now, these are All Elite Wrestling's biggest names, and while this group contains some of the world's most exciting and charismatic stars, but their alignments are grossly imbalanced.
Jericho is the only definitive heel out of those mentioned. Moxley might end up playing a villain, but he attacked everyone at Double Or Nothing, making it impossible to tell what his alignment is going to be or if he'll even adhere to the traditional scale. This is an issue, and it's one that the promotion must address before they start producing regular weekly television.
Page and Omega are best suited to babyface roles at the moment. The rest are up in the air, though. Cody is a heroic figure behind the scenes, but plays a more convincing bad guy, while the Bucks came through as gloriously obnoxious show-offs. Turning them makes all kinds of sense.
Regardless of how AEW do it, they need to figure this one out. The Elite can't just book babyface vs. babyface bouts forever. Sooner or later, they're going to need some more traditional good vs. evil storylines.
