10 Notable Changes Made To WWE Raw In 1997

1. Impromptu Matches

One silly element of WWF/E programming over the last twenty years has been the fact that the planned matches aren't 'complete' until some authority figure announces the main event ten minutes into the show, or Star A challenges Star B to a fight in the main event.

What would happen without these challenges, in a realistic world? Would they just stop the show at 9:39 and say, "Well, I guess we've got nothing else,"?

The early years of Raw is War reinforced the idea that a match between two feuding fighters could break out at any time, and those sorts of challenges were just around the corner, as soon as one dared the other to step into the ring with him. At least the idea behind them held chaotic promise.
