6. He Was Mad That He Was Replaced In WrestleMania 2000 Main Event
Story: Jericho's first WrestleMania was in 2000. He debuted in August 1999, had some solid feuds towards the end of the year and continued to ride his momentum into the new year. A WrestleMania main eventer? That didn't seem likely, at least that early in his WWE career. The main event of that WrestleMania was a 4 way with Triple H (with Stephanie McMahon), The Rock (with Vince McMahon), Big Show (with Shane McMahon) and Mick Foley (with Linda McMahon. Even though Foley lost a retirement match one month earlier he still got to main event WrestleMania. It wasn't always that way, though. That's a poster that shows that Jericho was set to be in that match. He was removed because Vince McMahon wanted to give Mick Foley a "WrestleMania moment" even after the big angle they did one month earlier. That's WWE. Stipulations don't matter. Was Jericho upset about it? Why People Believe It: They advertised him in the match and then it was taken away. It makes sense for him to be upset. Should We Believe It: Yeah, he probably was mad. It's hard to know exactly what he felt at that time. He has written about it, though. When you think about where he was in his career, he could have main evented at his first WrestleMania. Instead, he wrestled in a 3 way against Chris Benoit & Kurt Angle for both the IC & European Titles. It was fine, but he has said he hated that match probably because he wanted to be in the main event.
