4. His 2012 Royal Rumble Win Was Changed Due To Backstage Leaks
Story: Jericho returned to WWE in January 2012 with a new heel push for him. He was set to face off with WWE Champion CM Punk at WrestleMania 28. Most of us assumed that he was going to win the Royal Rumble to set it up. He made it all the way to the final two with Sheamus, but then he was eliminated by the redheaded Irishman. What happened? The common belief was that Jericho was going to get the win. There were all kinds of reports about it before the show and after the show although it's not like WWE is going to mention their exact plans either. In the end, both Sheamus and Jericho received major title shots at WrestleMania. Sheamus beat Daniel Bryan for the World Title in the opener while Jericho had a much longer match with CM Punk, which saw Punk retain the WWE Title. Why People Believe It: It made more sense. He came back after being away for a bit, the return was built up well and then he lost. WWE changing booking happens all the time, so it's easy to believe. Should We Believe It: Yes we should. Jericho winning would have been the right move since he was bragging about how he was the "Best in the World" all the time, so it would have been something new for him to brag about. Look at it from WWE's perspective, though. It didn't matter because both guys received title shots anyway, so maybe they had Jericho as the winner leading up to the show and then they changed it to Sheamus.
