10 NXT Superstars That Will Struggle On WWE's Main Roster
2. Bayley - Will Have To Be Rebuilt As An Underdog
One problem that WWE has had so far with NXT debuts is that they assume that their fanbase know everyone on the NXT roster. Of recent, nearly every NXT star has made a Scott Hall in WCW style debut where they are supposed to take their first steps into the company as a big deal. Some stars like Kevin Owens have been able to overcome this by quickly establishing themselves on the main roster on their own terms, but many have found their hot starts quickly cool as WWE fails to really develop the stars properly. Bayley will arguably suffer most from such an introduction. Her character is an underdog and a lovable loser. Even as NXT Women's Champion, she benefits from her long past as the wrestler who just couldn't win the big one as it still adds a tense element of doubt to her every match. If she comes in as a big deal right away on the main roster she will still have many of the qualities that make her great, but she won't have that aura of the underdog which ultimately generates so much of her sympathy. For Bayley to succeed on the main roster, WWE will need to exercise a level of patience and long term planning that they have not extended to many NXT superstars so far.
