9. Murphy
It seems like shedding first names can lead to success in WWE (just look at Rusev or Cesaro), so NXT followed suit, transforming the funny Australian character Buddy Murphy into a technical, gifted, and focused wrestler just called Murphy. His greatest success so far has been as one half of a tag team with Wesley Blake, now only called Blake. Although the two don't have a team name, they went from losing matches almost every week to holding the NXT Tag Team Championships since January 2015. Murphy has wrestled since 2007, getting his start in Professional Championship Wrestling (PCW). He even held that promotion's most prominent title, the PCW State Championship. In his native Melbourne, he once was the Melbourne City Wrestling Heavyweight Champion. While his strange hairdos, weird mannerisms, and pulsating dubstep theme song hadn't really resonated with NXT audiences before, Blake and Murphy are clearly beginning to catch on as heels. While both men bring a lot to the table, Murphy is clearly the bigger star. The group now has the support of the newly villainous Alexa Bliss. Murphy could represent his small stable at the Money in the Bank event and maybe even drop Murphy's Law (a running brainbuster) on Kofi Kingston or Sheamus.
