10 Oldest First-Time WWE World Champions

1. Vince McMahon - 54 Years, 21 Days

By 1999, Vince McMahon had already accomplished just about everything a promoter could do - he dominated the wrestling landscape, reinvented the sport for the upcoming 21st century, and had become the most hated heel in the game. He'd even gotten in the ring, making his debut well past the age of 50.

By later in '99, though, his record-breaking feud with Steve Austin had run its course. As a result of match where Austin beat Undertaker, McMahon was banished from WWE TV forever.

Forever, of course, only turned out to be two months, but when McMahon returned he was a babyface. He stood up to Triple H, who had usurped his role as the company's top heel, and ended up finding himself in a WWE World Championship match with "The Game" on an early episode of Smackdown. Implausibly, Austin - who was at odds with HHH - ran in and Stunned the champ, helping McMahon win his company's title.

McMahon's WWE World Championship win was more storyline than athletic accomplishment, and he vacated the title six days later. Still, numbers don't lie, and he stands as the oldest first-time WWE World Champion ever.
