10 Oldest Wrestlers To Ever Compete At WWE SummerSlam
6. Jerry Lawler
Considering that Jerry "The King" Lawler is still wrestling in his early 70s, it's no surprise that he competed at one of WWE's signature events at over 50-years-old. He was already 43 when he joined the WWF in 1992, wrestling sporadically whilst adding insightful (and often disturbing) comments from the announcer's desk.
After two prior SummerSlam appearances in his mid-40s, Lawler faced off against Tazz in 2000. The former ECW Champion had been targeting Lawler and his broadcast colleague, Jim Ross, so The King stepped into the ring at the age of 50 years 8 months and 29 days to defend his and his friend's honour. Despite an age gap of 18 years, Lawler bested Tazz when JR smashed a jar over his head and handed victory to The King.
Lawler wrestled many many more times for WWE after 2000, but never at SummerSlam. Even his on-air heart attack in 2012 hasn't stopped Jerry from competing, as he still has matches on the independent scene today.
Love him or hate him (and there's reasonable cause for both), it's impossible not to admire Lawler's passion for wrestling, even if may contradict every medical textbook in the world.
