Mr. McMahon's first WWF PPV main event came against his greatest rival, as McMahon and Stone Cold Steve Austin went one-on-one inside a steel cage to see who would go on to main event WrestleMania XV. This night was famous for being the show at which Big Show (then known by his real name, Paul Wight) made his debut for the company.

Vince McMahon was halfway through his 54th year at this point, and despite Austin's relative youth (he was just past 34) injuries were starting to creep up on the Texas Rattlesnake. Still, a match between Austin and McMahon in 1999 didn't really need much in the way of athleticism, as the noise from the crowd was going to be enough to keep things exciting.

Funnily enough, Big Show would immediately display the incompetence that would somewhat becomes his WWE trademark, throwing Austin throw the cage but allowing him to pick up the victory in the process.

Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
