10 OTHER Chris Jericho Dream Matches That Need To Happen

1. Kazuchika Okada

This is a list of dream matches, so of course the number one professional wrestler on the planet is going to be included. Will Chris Jericho manage to earn himself an IWGP Heavyweight Championship shot during his tenure in NJPW? Will the Ayatollah of Rock ’n’ Rolla be the man to end The Rainmaker’s near 600 day reign as champion?

It isn’t likely to go that way, but Okada vs. Jericho is still a match that fans all over the world would love to see. Okada has proven time and time again that he is an elite-level professional wrestler, having all-time classics against Kenny Omega, Tetsuya Naito, Katsuyori Shibata, Naomichi Marufuji and more, while dragging good to great bouts out of Cody and Bad Luck Fale, among others.

What could Okada do with Jericho? More to the point, what could Jericho do with Okada? Y2J proved inside the Tokyo Dome that he is better than inside the ring than his recent years in WWE would suggest. Experience and psychology has replaced what was once prime athleticism, making for a different but no less enrapturing experience. If Kazuchika Okada can get a good match out of 67 year old Genichiro Tenryu, then a match with a still-capable Jericho would tear the house down.

Is Chris Jericho going to stick around longer for more than just the two matches? It would be a great shame if he didn’t.

Y2J is a guaranteed Hall of Famer in the eyes of all wrestling fans, but a tour of matches such as the 10 listed above would remove the question mark that often follows the ‘Best in the World’ after his name.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
