From the man who can't win the big one to the man who couldn't win at all until last year. Tomoaki Honma has somehow managed to be (arguably) the most over babyface in New Japan despite his inability to win a match. In the 2014 G-1 Climax Honma went 0-10, yet instead of being derided as a continual loser his support seemingly grew throughout. Honmania was truly running wild, with the crowd swelling in anticipation whenever he would threaten to hit one of his trademark Kokeshi headbutts. Tomoaki Honma does not hit many Kokeshi headbutts. Recently, Honma has been covered in a cloud of darkness with allegations of domestic violence against him. The allegations must be taken seriously, although at this point they are still allegations. This didn't stop New Japan putting the IWGP Tag Titles on Honma and his partner Togi Makabe, in the brilliantly named GBH (Great Bash Heel) team.
Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
