5. Jeff Jarrett Vs Booker T (WCW Bash At The Beach 2000)

Bash At The Beach 2000 remains an infamous night in wrestling history, not least because it hosted one of several key moments that expedited World Championship Wrestling's tragically steep decline. And typical of the shows at the time, the earnestly good wrestling was made to suffer the most.

The show was designed to - at very long last - be the place Booker T ascended to the top of the company by defeating Jeff Jarrett and winning the World Heavyweight Championship. By dethroning the 'Chosen One', he was effectively toppling every corporate oppressor in the process. From a narrative point of view, he wasn't the organisation's favourite and never had been, but was winning because talent, drive and determination got him into the spot.

Or that could have been the case, had WCW boss Vince Russo not placed him in the show-closing spot alongside Double J after burying Hulk Hogan on the undercard in a scathing promo after a stupid worked shoot.

The dictionary definition of Russo's dumb*ss "everything is fake apart from this right now, this is real" style when he was at his worst, the Booker story could no longer be effectively be told because the guy holding the pencil had rattled off another one. The match was decent, the moment was nice, but neither are the reason anybody referenced this event in the aftermath.
