10 Pay-Per-View Concepts WWE Needs To Bring Back
5. In Your House
The quintessential ‘B-show’, In Your House was a concept dreamed up by WWE in 1995 to combat WCW increasing their pay-per-view output. It was a simple enough idea – a two hour show which was often subtitled after the main event, which helped progress storylines and angles in the off periods between the ‘Big Five’. So in other words, not much different to what we have now.
So what’s the point of bringing it back then? Well, the shorter running time, for one thing. The current WWE fan is bombarded with more content currently than it is possible to consume. That leads to jadedness with the product and overfamiliarity with everyone on the roster. In Your House events would not need everyone competing on them each time; WWE could pick and choose who appeared from month-to-month and give some of its overused performers a rest. The company used to do that in the 90s, often having one or two of its major stars sit out of the show if there was nothing meaningful for them to do.
And just think of those potential subtitles. In Your House: House of Horrors (okay, bad example), In Your House: The Big Dog’s Yard, In Your House: The Demon Rises. You get the idea. There are literally hundreds of ideas that could work, all with their own unique logos and slightly altered set design. Other suggestions on a postcard.
