Using the real-life death of superstar Eddie Guererro to generate cheap heat is one of the lowest things WWE has ever done, and this is a company that has booked multiple miscarriages, necrophelia, and an on-air suicide as part of their storylines. There are some boundaries between kayfabe and reality that need to remain locked in position. This crossed over that line.

After Eddie's long-time friend, Rey Mysterio, won the 2006 Royal Rumble, he appeared on SmackDown the following week to dedicate the victory to his deceased pal. Wearing a shirt with Eddie's name, face, and life span emblazoned on it, Mysterio essentially eulogized his friend in front of the (very respectful) crowd until his storyline adversary, Randy Orton, came to crash the party.

After interrupting Rey's tribute, Orton challenged him to a match at WrestleMania. Rey looked to the heavens as if to ask his departed friend for advice. And then Randy Orton said this:

"Let me tell ya somethin' bro, Eddie ain't in heaven. Eddie's down there, IN HELL!"

An exaggerated beatdown of the Legend Killer ensued, confirming this was just more soap opera fodder for a rather meaningless feud. It was a true disgrace to one of the most talented performers this industry has ever seen.
