10 Physically Impossible Wrestling Moves

9. Hip Toss

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbQsTMdNi5k The above video, taken from an episode of WWE's Monday Night Raw, is played for pure laughs. In it, WWE star Damien Sandow emerges as Magneto, rather taking the proverbial Michael out of actor Hugh Jackman's appearances as Wolverine in the X-Men movie series. After some standard WWE-style comedy, Jackman nails Sandow with that brutal wrestling move, the Hip Toss, before Dolph Ziggler hits his Zig-Zag finishing move on the costumed buffoon. The Hip Toss has been around since forever in wrestling, an adaptation of the Hip Throw, a technique derived from Judo. Normally used as one move in a series of them in pro wrestling - for example, one wrestler shoots another into the ropes, ducks a clothesline and then hits a Hip Toss, before both quickly get back to their feet and resume battle - the hold really relies on the person taking it taking a quick tumble, flipping forward. If they didn't, it wouldn't be possible as it is. In Judo, the hip is used as leverage, hence the name, whereas in the world of pro wrestling, it's sheer arm strength that pulls the opponent over. That's not physically plausible.
