Triple H entered the WWF as the blue blood Hunter Hearst Helmsley act.

It was a cartoonish role that was honestly too boring to be detestable. His facials were good in an over-the-top way, but anybody can pull a face. His work was much too drab to get over as a superior ring general, and the persona was too antiquated and fake to despise. He wasn't a person that was better than you because he barely seemed like a real human being at all.

It took the man forever to get over, but get over he did in 2000, after some near-disastrous flirtations with kangol hats, chainlink vests and a weird-uh- tic-uh that he thought-uh made him sound powerful-uh. But before the frantic selling and super-assured power game with which he got over as a the main event-level heel you really, really wanted to get beat - as opposed to his 2003, in which you really, really wanted to stop watching wrestling - Trips worked a ham-and-egger in the dark year of 1995.

Dark is right; Hunter Hearst Helmsley debuted by defeating Buck Zumhofe on Wrestling Challenge. Zumhofe had already been convicted for sexual misconduct with a minor, in 1989, but he probably came cheap! Or you know, the WWF just weren't aware.

Zumhofe in 2014 was sentenced to 25 years on charges of criminal sexual misconduct for interfering with his own daughter.
