10 Positive Developments In This Awful Post-WWE WrestleMania Season
5. Big Cass Is Already On The Slide
The second unwarranted big push of Big Cass in as many years inspired the sort of eye-rolling inevitability that has corroded genuine fan interest in recent years. The whole thing is a snarky comments section joke writ seven foot tall; Cass is very tall, and that alone qualifies him for a push.
Cass was great to watch when obscured and reflected by NXT's smoke and mirrors. The best Realest Guys In The Room matches weren't phenomenal but they were fun, and genuinely heated. People wanted to see the two men succeed, crackers as that is to write in 2018, because they presented themselves and were presented as relatively unskilled chancers with more heart and drive and charm than anybody else in the (locker) room.
As a singles performer, Cass is really not very good at all. He is awful. In stark contrast to what drove his connection with the crowd, and the very tedious evidence exhibited onscreen, Singles Cass was recently portrayed as an imposing and powerful threat. Despite projecting nothing in the way of intensity nor dynamism, Cass simply held onto Bryan's hand throughout his boring Backlash baptism of fire. It's somewhat unpleasant to celebrate the de-push of a performer, especially one who might actually be shoot injured after all.
Almost as unpleasant as blindsiding a little person beyond the prearranged physical script.
