10 Positives Heading Into WWE Backlash 2016

1. AJ Styles Is The Top Heel

Perhaps the biggest positive heading into Backlash is the fact that we have the best wrestler on the roster competing for the biggest prize in the game—exactly the way things should be.

Having overcome the odds to defeat John Cena at SummerSlam, a boastful AJ Styles has continued his march to the top of the SmackDown pile where he will now challenge Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Championship on Sunday evening.

Realistically, this is going to be the match of the night, so that right there is your first positive. Plus, it’s a position on the card that he’s totally deserving of. While we’ve seen him challenge for the title before, back when he faced Roman Reigns earlier this year, his presence in the main event scene felt like something of a stop-gap while Seth Rollins was injured.

As soon as Seth returned, he was given pride of place as the top heel, with AJ fading from the title picture. Now though, thanks partially to the Brand Split and partially to the fact that the cream always rises to the top, AJ finds himself where he belongs; at the top of the card challenging for the top honours.

For the quality match that it’ll almost definitely yield, as well as fact that it’s a just reward for someone of The Phenomenal One's talent, this one’s a positive in every sense of the word as far as I’m concerned.
