4. Baron Corbin

Of those aforementioned believable contenders, none have impressed quite like Baron Corbin, especially in such a short space of time. Although he may have been eliminated from the WWE Championship Chamber match first, he was removed in a way that didn’t make him look weak. He then proceeded to knock Dean Ambrose from pillar to post, sending him crashing through a chamber pod for rolling him up.

After languishing in unimpressive feuds since his post-Wrestlemania call-up, Corbin has now found his place as SmackDown Live’s resident monster heel, an element it was sorely lacking. He’s appeared in several championship matches, getting the rub from the likes of AJ Styles and John Cena, both of whom made The Lone Wolf look like a credible threat, and has even made history by competing in the first ever good Chairs Match, in a severely underrated bout against Kalisto.

It’s hard to imagine that Baron Corbin was initially thought of as one of Smackdown Live’s many underwhelming signings after the Draft – he has since gone on to become one of the blue brand’s biggest aces in what seems like a never-ending sleeve of them.
