The legendary battles that Kenny Omega had against Kazuchika Okada helped establish the Canadian as one of the modern greats. Throughout four contests between 2017 and 2018, the pair famously smashed the star-ratings barrier in what many consider to be some of the greatest wrestling matches of all time.
Understandably, the rivals have not crossed paths in some time given that they might have produced their best work together already. However, the prospect of a fifth match under the banner of AEW is perhaps one of the biggest matches the promotion could hope to produce. There may be some concern that they won't live up to expectations but realistically, anything that falls short of their previous encounters would not be a disappointment as the ceiling is tremendously high.
There will be a sizeable chunk of AEW's audience that has not had the chance to witness Kenny's work in Japan, which means an Okada fight would be a fresh matchup. Also, allowing 'The Rainmaker' to perform in front of a mainstream western wrestling audience is always a good thing.
