10 Potential WWE WrestleMania 36 Opponents For John Cena

Or, WWE might prefer that 'Big Match John' puts over Erick Rowan.

Rowan's only real (singles) WrestleMania experience to date was that quick loss to The Rock at 'Mania 32. Four years on, there are slight worries that the writers have soured on... whatever the hell that animal in a cage gimmick is supposed to be. It has stalled big time.

A win over Cena would revitalise Rowan's chances of becoming an important part of the Raw roster after Tampa. A strong showing, win or lose, would do the same; Erick doesn't necessarily need to win out over Cena to look good. Presentation is key here, and the announcers could hype him by noting how he dominated portions of the match.

Maybe Rowan will reveal that his caged fiend (not that 'Fiend') is affectionately called John after Mr. Cena, or maybe the returning merch machine will be the one who finally lifts the lid on Erick's caged mystery. It's not much of a story, but it's something.
