10 Most Predictable Royal Rumbles Ever

Not exactly defying the odds in these ones.

One of the best things about the Royal Rumble match is the potential for surprises. The nature of the match means that it is likely that superstars who have never squared off before will clash with each other for the first time. There are also the surprise entrants and other extras that make the Rumble one of the most anticipated matches on the WWE calendar. There have been some shock Rumble winners in the past. For all that was made of the odds being stacked against Chris Benoit at the 2004 event, very few figured that WWE would actually go through with it and have him with the match. Randy Orton or Kurt Angle seemed like much more obvious choices at the time. Likewise was Rey Mysterio's Rumble victory in 2006. Although he was wrestling for the memory of Eddie Guerrero, the smart money was one Triple H or Orton walking away victorious. Surprisingly, the diminutive Mysterio beat them both. There have been other surprises in recent years (Santino runner up, anyone?) which have kept fans guessing and retained interesting in the Rumble concept after twenty seven outings. However, more often than not, WWE plays it safe with the Rumble winner. After all, the main event of WrestleMania is WWE's most lucrative match and is usually set in stone months in advance. WWE's refusal to go out on a limb and take a chance with someone has lead to some truly predictable Rumbles in the past.
