10 Predictions For WWE Payback After Extreme Rules

6. Kane vs Big Show - Retirement Match

The stipulation is more wishful optimism than actual prediction, but a battle between the two big guns of the Authority is certainly not beyond the realms of possibly. For a while now, the Big Show and Kane haven't been getting along. They came to blows in the Royal Rumble, bickered throughout their 6-man tag at Fast Lane and have not had a kind word to say about each other since. Kane's allegiance to the Authority has also been a big (perhaps too big) focus of the main event scene ever since the post-Wrestlemania RAW, when Seth Rollins set the wheels in motion by publicly belittling the Big Red Monster. Despite the crushing apathy that the fans have toward this angle, expect it to play out further. At Extreme Rules, Kane chokeslammed Rollins and J&J. We also saw his mask in the background during a backstage segment. Signs are pointing towards the Devil's Favourite Demon returning to his fiery persona (once again) and cutting ties to the Authority. This could blow off at Payback with Kane being put in a compromising match, designed to cause his destruction. It's possible that he could face J&J in a handicap match, but no one in their right mind would see that as a threat. Perhaps he might face J&J and the Big Show, but odds are stronger that he'll face the giant alone, considering how bafflingly high the WWE have been on the Big Show recently. Perhaps it could be a retirement match. That would legitimately raise the stakes, but it's doubtful. Either way, expect the fans not to care too much about either man going forward.
